Students will normally be visited at least once during clinical placement 1, 2 and 4, by a member of the University’s academic staff. The visiting lecturer would usually be a Chartered Physiotherapist involved in the teaching programme. The students are responsible for contacting the visiting lecturer at the start of their placement and a visit will usually be organised for the second or third week of the placement. Additional visits during the placement will be organised as required in consultation with the student and the clinical educator. Students on placements 3, 5 and 6 are supported by a lecturer at LSBU who will make telephone contact with the clinical educator and student and decide whether a visit is required.
Visits and calls are intended to provide educational and pastoral support for students and clinical educators within the clinical setting. The University staff will facilitate student/clinical educator interaction and promote communication between the clinical placement and University environments, please see the contact details for the Physiotherapy department.
