Supervision and tutorials

COT (2014) pre-registration standards require students to have sound and robust supervision on practice placements. LSBU require students to be provided with a minimum of 1 hour supervision per week; this time should be used for supporting the students learning and reviewing and revising objectives and plans for the remainder of the placement. The weekly records should indicate areas both for recognition of achievement and areas that need specific work. In addition to formal supervision, short feedback and discussion sessions may occur naturally between intervention sessions or at the end of a working day.

The Record of Supervision Discussion sheet is a suggested format for recording the formal supervision, this is available in the educator report forms.

The student and educator can decide who will record supervision each week.
