Information to provide your student before they start their placement - OT: Home

Information to provide your student before they start their placement

Practice educators are requested to prepare and provide to students, information about the placement and expectations of students. It is suggested that the information about the placement includes:

• organisational and management structure
• skills/expertise of staff in post
• learning opportunities available to students
• potential study visits
• normal hours of work
• uniform requirements
• special requirements for accessing the placement (e.g. use of car)
• special demands which may be made of students (e.g. evening work)
• information which the student should supply
• pre-placement reading
• other preparations which student should make
• other relevant information
• accommodation information where necessary
• map

Students are informed of where they will be going on placement approximately one month prior to placement. Students are asked to make contact with their educator and send out a copy of their CV Profile and letter of introduction (Appendix 2 and 3. In addition to this on PP2-4 students are requested to provide educators with a copy of their “continuing professional development” for from their previous placement. Students are strongly advised to arrange a pre-placement visit where possible.
